> How much stain do you use on fences?
We do not limit the amount of stain we use for your project. We use as much stain as your fence requires to achieve the high quality look we promise all of our clients. When we dispatch our crews we send them with ample amounts of stain so they never run out on the job. Experience tells us that we generally get a coverage rate of 90 square feet per gallon on new board on board fences that are built with rough cedar. Side by side fences generally take 100 square feet per gallon. Unless requested by a customer we always use Bakers Gray Away products from Texas Wood Products to ensure we have a consistent and long lasting result.

A wood fence with metal posts will last approximately 15-20 years with proper maintenance.
> Should we arrange to have someone at home while you build my project?
You are welcome to, but it is not necessary. Bobcat Custom Outdoors has several professional crews that we have personally hand selected and are extremely trustworthy. As long as we have access to power we can work independently. Some aspects of certain project do require your input. We will let you know about those phases ahead of time so we you can make arrangements to be there.
> If I have any changes can I just tell your crew while they are here building my project?
Please keep in mind that the crew building your fence, while hand picked trustworthy installers, they do not have the authority to make changes to the work order for your project. While a financial issue, it is also a safety issue as well for your home. Any changes will need to be approved the project manager who designed the scope of your project.
> Do you locate and pin property lines?
No. When installing fences we use the same location as your original fence. When building outdoor living projects we rely on the information provided in your survey. We do our best to identify the locations of easements and build lines based on the information provided in the survey but ultimately we are not surveyors.
> My neighborhood HOA has restrictions; do you follow these guidelines or rules?
We rely on you to inform us of any guidelines set forth by your HOA. While many HOA’s are familiar with our work they do not keep us apprised of their requirements and design specifications. It is the responsibility of the homeowner to know these guidelines before hand so we can insure our design is compliant.
> What about a city permit?
Yes! The municipalities in North Texas generally require the contractor under contract to apply for all permits on the project and in most cases do not allow the homeowner to pull the permits. Not all work requires a permit and to make things more complex cities are constantly changing their building standards. I suggest contacting your local municipality to familiarize yourself with the building requirements and deed restrictions surrounding your property prior to the design phase.
> Is it normal to have different shades of color in cedar?
Yes! Wood is a natural product. Age & size of the tree create unique wood grain, and various shades of color. This is standard and one of the beautiful things about cedar.

All woods naturally shrink, warp and cup over time. However, Western Red Cedar has a very unique characteristic in that it resistant to shrinking, warping, and cupping. Also, Western Red Cedar is also naturally resistant to insects and termites.
